The
Martin Foundation was formed in 1992 to provide a means for perpetuating the charitable
generosity of David Moser Martin (1918-1990) and Patsy Ann Martin (1926-1998).David and Patsy Martin took great pride in every neighborhood that
they resided. They were great believers in being both socially and civicly involved in
their community. David served for 11 years on the Board of Directors and as President of
the Lake LBJ Municipal Utility District in Horseshoe Bay, Texas. In that capacity he was
responsible for the formation of the Horseshoe Bay Fire Department, EMS service and the
Police Department. Such was his contribution to the Horseshoe Bay community, the
developers and the owners were inspired to create a family park as a lasting memorial to
his civic leadership and community spirit.
It is with this same appreciation for the strength that evolves from
a community which comes together to solve their own problems, that Samuel Martin guides
the activities of the foundation today. With contributions to the Marble Falls; Family
Crisis Center, Helping Center, CASA, Children's Advocacy Center, Neighborhood Center Meals
on Wheels, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Marble Falls Library, Seton Hospital, Martin
Park, EMS, various other care organizations and emergency needs as they arise. For a

The foundations mandate is to primarily support
local volunteer services to assure that the proceeds provided will directly benefit
individuals in need. Although we will continue to expand the support that we
provide locally, we also consider it important to contribute to other projects that serve
to help those in need elsewhere or indirectly benefit us all. Homes for
Humanity is one such program that we support.
ORGANIZATION
The foundation is managed by a Board of Trustees
appointed by Samuel Martin. Members of the Board of Trustees of The Martin
Foundation do not receive any compensation for their work. We currently do not employ any
staff or incur any overhead for facilities. Mr. Martin provides office space, supplies and
services. American Bank of Texas
generously donates its banking services. The only expense the Foundation pays for is
accounting services. Otherwise, 100% of every dollar collected is distributed to needy
individuals and other charity organizations.
As the Foundations support efforts increase, we
anticipate the need to hire assistants, provide a facility, and absorb some level of
overhead expenses. Regardless of how much the organization grows, our goal will always be
to distribute the absolute most we can of the contributions we receive. No individual is
going to become wealthy working for The Martin Foundation.
