SPECIAL EVENT
OCTOBER 2001 - Raised $10,000 for World Trade Center Victims
in NY
In the wake of events on September
11th, the Martin Foundation was asked to help with a fund raising event to provide
assistance to the victims in New York. A new "Special Events" fund was
created to provide a means for separating one-time events from the other foundation
operations. On October 11th, a Fish Fry was held in Horseshoe Bay. Net
proceeds from the event were nearly $9,200. An appeal, to increase our gift to
$10,000 was made to citizens and Chamber of Commerce members in the community. This
brought in an additional $1,400 for a total of $10,597.00. On November 4, 2001, the
Martin Foundation sent a check for $10,000 to the New York State World Trade Center Relief
Fund. The balance of the special events fund was transferred to the HSB Assistance
Fund.
